Papier Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AppsHeroes (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use Papier (the “App”).

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Papier, we may process:

  • Account information: the identifier and email address provided through Sign in with Apple, which may be an Apple private relay address.
  • Profile information: your username, display name, optional photo, biography, profile preferences, and privacy settings.
  • Reading information: books in your library, reading status, ratings, notes, wishlists, reading activity, and generated reader profile.
  • Social information: friend requests, accepted friendships, and content you choose to share with friends.
  • Device information: push-notification tokens and limited technical information needed to operate and secure the App.
  • Support information: the content of messages and diagnostic details you choose to send us.

How we use information

We use this information to:

  • provide, maintain, secure, and improve Papier;
  • sync your library and reading progress across supported devices;
  • enable friend, sharing, wishlist, and notification features;
  • create your reader profile when you explicitly request it;
  • respond to support requests and prevent abuse.

Reader profile and artificial intelligence

When you choose to generate a reader profile, Papier sends selected reading information—such as book titles, authors, publication years, languages, ratings, and wishlist titles—to a secure server function. That function uses Anthropic’s Claude service to generate a literary portrait. Your private notes are not included in this request. The resulting portrait may be stored with your Papier profile so it can be displayed in the App.

Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only when needed to operate the App, comply with law, protect rights and safety, or with your direction. Our service providers include:

  • Supabase, for authentication, database, file storage, and server functions;
  • Apple, for Sign in with Apple and push notifications;
  • Anthropic, when you request generation of a reader profile;
  • book-information providers such as Hardcover, Google Books, and Open Library when the App searches for book metadata.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their terms and applicable safeguards.

Your sharing choices

Papier gives you controls over your profile and reading activity. Ratings and personal notes are private unless a feature clearly lets you choose otherwise. Information you share with accepted friends, including your wishlist where applicable, can be seen by those friends. You can change friendships and available privacy preferences in the App.

Data retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide Papier, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Local account data is cleared from the device when you sign out where supported by the App.

Your rights and account deletion

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to processing of, or delete your personal information. You can request account deletion from within Papier or contact us. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children

Papier is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Papier evolves. We will publish the updated version on this page and revise the date above.
